Gratitude, appreciation and an opportunity to inspire others to make a difference.
🙏 On Saturday 28 September 2024, I was honored and humbled to be selected as an awardee by the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women project.
🏆 The award is given to recognize and document the contribution of Black women who have excelled professionally while making an impactful contribution to uplift women and girls through leadership, mentorship, and role modelling.
I am deeply grateful to the many people who supported my professional development over the years. I am equally grateful for the seemingly bad experiences and difficult colleagues I have met along the way. All of this has strengthened my resolve to be better, do better and reach out to help others do the same.
My best advice for the next generation is to learn from every experience and live without regrets.
Awardees’ accomplishments were published in the 5th edition of the “100 Accomplished Blac Canadian Women – 2023” book. My accomplishments listed in the book include:
- Implementation of a revamped, impactful community investment program at Standard Life.
- Negotiation of over $2 million to fund the expansion of programs and double the Alzheimer Society of Montreal’s clientele.
- Contribution to the development and adoption of the Anti-Black Racism Action Plan to dismantle systemic racism in the Anglican Diocese of Montreal
All awardees had the opportunity to speak on pre-recorded videos.
👐 I’m sharing the text of my video message that was played during the Book Launch and Award Ceremony, in the hope that others will be inspired to give back, pay it forward and make a difference in the world.
🔊 “For me, leadership and mentorship have always gone hand in hand in my career in the private and social sectors. I strongly encourage everyone to empower others; to lead in building innovative community programs; and to offer thought leadership that promotes career development, health, and well-being. From my experience, the impact is exponential.”
💡 Even though none of us can singlehandedly boil the ocean, we can each make several cups of tea!
See the BIG picture. Focus on what’s important.
