So much talk over so many years about #genderequality and #diversity, yet we still have a long way to go. I’m hoping that this is not just the flavour of the day that was given more attention during the pandemic lockdown.
We are not going to resolve gender parity and diversity issues by government policies alone or by some enlightened #businessleadership speaking up and promoting a few #women and visible minorities. The joint action of the public and private sectors here in Canada and worldwide is essential.
Starting with #education, the way girls and boys are educated and socialized, we can ensure that current and future generations will live in a world without discrimination based on gender and other identities.
Isabelle Hudon said it so eloquently –
« We need to think about actions that make girls and women visible, audible, where we ensure their safety and education. We need to identify specific actions that are relevant to different geographies, realities and cultures. »
We all benefit from #diversityandinclusion .
