Happy birthday Jamaica!
August 6, 2023 is the 61st anniversary of Jamaica’s independence and the year of my birth. I am grateful for the point in history when I was born.
In 1962, colonialism was being dismantled and educational and economic opportunities opportunities for Black persons and women were being opened up.
I am fortunate to have benefitted from the changes and to now have the opportunity to give a hand up to others.
Here we are six decades later.
The journey continues towards a world in which all people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, can take their place according to their ability and aspiration.
Jamaica is a tiny nation that has given the world so much! I am so proud of my roots and so grateful for the foundation Jamaica has given me.
I am also filled with gratitude for the countless opportunities I have had here in Montreal, Canada, to flourish professionally and personally, and to use my talents to help people and businesses be better and do better.
See the BIG picture. Focus on what’s important.
